Il teatro viene realizzato tra il 1840 e il 1842 ad opera dell’architetto Giuseppe Leoni. Qui, nel 1847, viene eseguito per la prima volta in pubblico l’inno nazionale composto da Goffredo Mameli. Oltre alla conservazione dell’edificio, i lavori di restauro realizzati nel recente passato hanno contribuito al suo ampliamento per accogliere alcuni spazi di servizio all’interno del teatro. Si è proceduto inoltre all’adeguamento normativo per la sicurezza e al rinnovo degli arredi.

Built between 1840 and 1842 by the architect Giuseppe Leoni, the theater hosted in 1847 the first public performance of the national anthem composed by Goffredo Mameli. The recent restoration executed have affected the preservation works, the safety regulations update, the renewal of the furnishings, and the enlargement of the building aimed at accommodating some service side areas.
